A Reality Check & Weekly Schedule
Realizing my Ikigai/Plan de Vida is no small task. The actual number of hours in a day dictate that I won't have time for things that some may consider essential. Watching television and sports, perusing social media, listening to music, and obsessing over daily news cycles will have to go. Calculating the time required to be true to my life's purpose allowed me to understand that I need to uncouple from what I formerly believed to be important. In the end, I will need to let go of a compelling desire to be up-to-date and fully informed about politics and sports.
My Workweek Schedule
- 7 hours of sleep
- 1 hour of mindfulness exercises
- 2-3 hours of movement
- 1.5 - 2 hours to prepare and mindfully eat meals
- 8.5 hours of meaningful work
- 1-2 hours to connect with family & friends
- 1-2 hours of discretionary time ( = NO SCREEN TIME for entertainment or social media, limited time for study and consumption of news)
Weekend & Holiday Schedule
- 7 hours of sleep
- 1 - 2 hours of mindfulness exercises
- 4 - 6 hours of exercise
- 2 - 4 hours to prepare and mindfully eat meals
- 2 hours of study
- 2 - 4 hours to connect with family & friends
- 2 hours for entertainment
- Discretionary time for consumption of news, social media, and entertainment will vary depending on how much time set aside for exercise, meal preparation for the week, and time dedicated to connecting with family and friends
Possessing unusual interests, perspectives, and talents is a beautiful thing. I unconditionally accept the unique lifestyle I've adopted. There are so many outstanding advocates for health and wellness. Who am I to think that I can add more to an already crowded field of celebrities? The prospect of doing so humbles me, but I have heard the call. Self-inflicted personal hardships have blessed me with insight into how to free myself from illness and atrophy. It is my desire to live the healthiest possible lifestyle based on the best evidence provided by unadulterated science. I hope to influence those around me by example and eventually inspire increasingly larger numbers of people to join me in a more healthy trajectory through life.
